Almost every failed epoxy floor failed for the same reason: the concrete was not prepared. A coating is only as good as its bond, and a bond to a sealed, dusty or contaminated slab is not a bond at all — it is a film sitting on top of one, waiting to peel in sheets. Preparation is most of this job, and it is the part people shop away when they compare quotes.
Concrete must be mechanically profiled — ground or shot-blasted to open the surface — not just cleaned and acid-etched. Moisture has to be tested; a Florida slab on grade can drive enough vapour to lift a coating from underneath no matter how well it was applied on top. If a quote does not mention profiling and a moisture test, you are being quoted a paint job.
